Description

Hanoi – Na Khan :
We leave Hanoi early to reach our first destination, the small Tay village of Na Khan.
We drive on small back roads, winding through forests and valleys with wild landscapes. We spend the night in the traditional Tay stilt house of Mr. Lo, village chieftain. Warm welcome and Ms. Bong, his wife, prepares a great meal.

Na Khan – Ba Be :
Short drive from Na Khan to Ba Be on beautiful narrow road. Ba Be is a National Park covered by one of the few remaining virgin forests in Vietnam.
Lunch at the house of the boat captain, Mr. Manh. Then an easy cruise on the lake and through the jungle, down the Gam river to the Dau Dang waterfalls. We spend the afternoon in the area, meeting up with our friends.
We spend the night in the house of Mr. Manh with his family.

Ba Be – Bao Lac :
Early departure for a long and beautiful ride.
Small, easy road which recently replaced a dirt road. Scenery changes as we climb the mountain. Mountain, pass, no traffic at all!
We going through the territory of black Tay, Doa, H’Mong, San Chi, to end in the Lo Lo ethnic area.
Depending of the day of the week, we can visit the ethnic market of Bao Lac.

Bao Lac – Ha Giang :
One of the most stunning rides in Vietnam along the Chinese border. Many incredible mountain passes, valleys, ethnic territories.
Mystical atmosphere for a trip from another time.

Ha Giang – Bac Ha :
Another long ride today. We leave Ha Giang province on twisting mountain roads surrounded by breathtaking landscape.
After reaching Xin Man and having lunch, we climb to Bac Ha on a dirt road giving us panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Then we ride down to Bac Ha and stay in a hotel.
From Xin Man, the car takes another route, with more magnificent high, mid-mountain and forest landscapes.

Bac Ha – Lung Phin – Luc Yen :
We drive to Lung Phin, 15 km from Bac Ha. We are developing a branch of our project LaVieVuLinh in partnership with a H’mong family there. Their house is located in the middle of a beautiful mountainous site, as yet undiscovered by other tours. This is an opportunity for you to discover the area from the inside while you give a boost to their local project.
Then we drive down the mountain road towards Thac Ba Lake.
We cross the territory of flower H’Mong, in the direction of the Thac Ba lake. We pass through Luc Yen, famous for its rubies. Then we reach the lake area on a small road bordered with palm trees. We spend the night near a pond in the lower village in a nice stilt house of our Tay friends.

Luc Yen – Vu Linh :
In the morning we pay a visit to friends, the Red Dao neighbors of the upper village, climbing 2 km on a path through jungle, by foot or motorbike—it’s up to you. This village has a matrilineal culture—don’t be surprised to see the men care for the children while the women drink rice wine!
We then go to Vu Linh village on a lovely road climbing a hill, giving a great view, before it descends and meanders around the lake.
We are welcomed by the Dao Quan Trang family and our students from our sustainable, education and ecotourism project : LaVieVuLinh, which includes education, culture, sustainable development and ecotourism.
In the afternoon, relax, enjoy the site, go boating or take a short walk around.

Vu Linh – Hanoi :
You have time to enjoy a little bit more the place, and then we leave by a nice road after lunch. Small hills covered by tea plantations, Karstic mountain peaks, the Tam Dao mountain range, and fast road back to Hanoi.
Arrival around 6 pm.

Hanoi – Green Vietnam :
We head west driving through Tam Dao Karstic mountain range, reaching the rolling hills of Tuyen Quang province. After several kilometers, we leave the paved road for a short drive on local dirt roads. We are in Green Vietnam, a sustainable agroforestry project run by a dynamic Vietnamese family.
We sleep in the beautiful stilt house of the owner, Mr. Quang, in the middle of a thriving fruit orchard. Warm, multi-ethnic atmosphere with locally-produced food and drink.
Here is an opportunity to discover and participate in the growth of a unique project in Vietnam.

Green Vietnam – Vu Linh :
In the morning, we visit the farm, river, lake, karstic formations, and the fruit orchard, learning about sustainable agriculture.
We then head towards Thac Ba Lake, the largest closed reservoir of northern Vietnam.
We are in the small village of Ngoi Tu on the bank of Thac Ba lake welcomed by the family and the students of our project : LaVieVuLinh, which includes education, culture, sustainable development and ecotourism.
In the afternoon, relax, enjoy the site, go boating or take a short walk around.

Vu Linh – Trek :
After a good breakfast, we are ready to go on a trek.
We start on traditional Dao boats, rowed by foot. We stop in a villager’s house to share a moment of their daily life, drink tea, and discover the various activities taking place on the bank of the lake (e.g. fish breeding).
Another cruise and we disembark at one of the numerous islands on the lake, climb to the top and admire the view from above the site.

Vu Linh – Luc Yen :
Less travel today, so there’s time to enjoy more of the lake this morning.
Afterward, we follow a magnificent road along the fjords of the lake, surrounded by sugar loaf hills and palm trees.
Then the road rises to the foothills around the lake providing stunning views, then descending to the valley of Luc Yen, located on the west end of the lake.
Luc Yen is a lively small town with its local economy activity based on mining and selling gems.
We stay overnight away from the city, in the stilt house of our Tay friends on the edge of a pond in the village below.

Luc Yen – Bac Ha :
In the morning we pay a visit to friends, the Red Dao neighbors of the upper village, climbing 2 km on a path through jungle. This village has a matrilineal culture—don’t be surprised to see the men care for the children while the women drink rice wine!
Then we hit the road again, driving through Red Dao and Flower H’mong territories. Depending on the weather conditions, we drive on a dirt road along the Chay River.
We enter the magnificent mountain range between China and Vietnam.

Bac Ha – Lung Phin – Lao Cai – Hanoi :
We drive to Lung Phin, 15 km from Bac Ha. We are developing a branch of our project LaVieVuLinh in partnership with a H’mong family there. Their house is located in the middle of a beautiful mountainous site, as yet undiscovered by other tours. This is an opportunity for you to discover the area from the inside while you give a boost to their local project.
At the end of the afternoon, we head towards Lao Cai. From there, we return comfortably to Hanoi by night train. Arrival around 5:30 am the next morning.

Hanoi – Ha Long – Bai Tu Long :
We leave Hanoi around 8 am by private car.
At noon, we board a comfortable wooden junk with double cabins and private bathrooms, a comfortable living room and deck with lounge chairs. We start the cruise with a delicious seafood lunch on the way to Bai Tu Long, the wilder, less touristic sister of Ha Long Bay. The boat calmly glides between the karstic island of the mythical archipelago as you discover quiet, undeveloped beaches, caves and floating villages.
There you can enjoy kayaking and night fishing.
Spend the night on the boat.

Bai Tu Long – Ha Long – Hanoi :
Breakfast in a fabulous setting from another time.
We then cruise to Vung Vieng village, reaching the floating village by rustic rowboat where we meet the local people and visit their floating school and fish farm.
Then there’s time for a swim in the middle of the bay.
While we cruise back to Ha Long Harbor, lunch is served on board.

We disembark at noon, and return to Hanoi around 4 pm.

Itinary

Hanoi – Vu Linh :
We then head towards Thac Ba Lake, the largest closed reservoir of northern Vietnam.
We are in the small village of Ngoi Tu on the bank of Thac Ba lake welcomed by the family and the students of our project : LaVieVuLinh, which includes education, culture, sustainable development and ecotourism.
In the afternoon, relax, enjoy the site, go boating on traditional Dao foot-rowboats or take a short walk around.

Vu Linh- Luc Yen :

Hanoi – Ha Long :
We leave Hanoi around 8 am by private car.
At noon, we board a comfortable wooden junk with double cabins and private bathrooms, a comfortable living room and deck with lounge chairs. We start the cruise with a delicious seafood lunch on the way to Bai Tu Long, the wilder, less touristic sister of Ha Long Bay. The boat calmly glides between the karstic island of the mythical archipelago as you discover quiet, undeveloped beaches, caves and floating villages.
There you can enjoy kayaking and night fishing.
Spend the night on the boat.

Ha Long – Hanoi :
Breakfast in a fabulous setting from another time.
We then cruise to Vung Vieng village, reaching the floating village by rustic rowboat where we meet the local people and visit their floating school and fish farm.
Then there’s time for a swim in the middle of the bay.
While we cruise back to Ha Long Harbor, lunch is served on board.

We disembark at noon, and return to Hanoi around 4 pm.
