Car or motorcycle transportation can be chosen for all our tours
The Motorbikes
We are pioneers in Vietnam: since 1994, we navigate leisurely on the country’s trails. We have given preference to the Minsk 125cc, which, for us, is THE “hiking” bike par excellence. We have the latest Minsk models, brand-new, true collectors’ items, and the best mechanics to take great care of them. The Minsk is a brave bike, handles the road very well, and is easily repaired.
With a Minsk 125cc, we travel in harmony with the country’s rhythm. More modern machines do not fit with the spirit and the risk of hurting a child increases. Therefore, we “stick” with the Minsk.
However, for highly-experienced and responsible bikers, we sometimes organize tours on more modern…and more expensive machines.
Our bikes are insured for Third Parties and equipped with two 40-liter horse bags to be autonomous.
Equipment
We supply the bags, helmets, bed sheets, and stretchers. We advise you to bring:
– Clothing: sweaters and sport jackets, gloves, good trekking shoes, sun glasses
– Pharmacy: medicine, sun cream, insect repellent
– Bath linen, torchlight, knife. All the above can be purchased in Hanoi at a cheap price, except the repellent.
The Cars and others
To crisscross the North Vietnam roads, we use two kinds of vehicles: four-wheel drives and 16-seat minibuses, depending on the number of people, the selected itinerary, and, of course, your preference.
Our drivers are highly experienced; they know upside down the roads and the local driving habits. They are true professionals.
Our tours can include also boat treks, like in our eco-lodge LaVieVuLinh for instance, and if you plan to visit Ha Long Bay, we offer two types of sailboats to discover smoothly the many islands.
Vietnamese roads are improved at an alarming rate, but it is still quite relative: a good road is the one which sometimes allows 60 Km/h without hitting the car roof, and, which worries us, allows 45-seat buses to reach regions which, before, were isolated.
But the “unconditionals” of the off-the-beaten tracks don’t have to worry; a large part of the country is still accessible only slowly and with efforts. Vietnam, especially the North, is a big wild garden and strolling through it gives a rare feeling of freedom.
Compagnie Bourlingue, it’s above all a team of guides speaking your language and the local ones. All different, but sharing a common passion: Vietnam and the desire to share it with you. Their knowledge of the land and of the people guarantees the excellence of their service. They manage your safety, the mechanics, translate, and bargain. They do not interfere between Vietnam and you. They have friends everywhere on the way and know where the treasures are.
There are no good and bad seasons in Vietnam. All the seasons, except autumn, which is the Vietnamese Indian Summer, alternate good and bad weather. In the North, it is rather cold and dry in winter, hot and humid in summer. Nevertheless, we travel year around, adapting our itineraries to the weather.
